About The Conference
The International Conference on Viral Infections (ICVI) took place from June 11-12, 2025 in Athens, Greece. The conference brought together scientists, doctors, and policy experts from around the world to discuss the latest developments in viral disease research and treatment. Key topics covered at ICVI 2025 included emerging viral threats, antiviral drug discovery, vaccine development, and the role of public health policy in fighting viral epidemics. Over the conference of two days, attendees had the opportunity to hear from renowned keynote speakers, present the findings of their own research, and connect with colleagues during networking sessions and social events.
The generous support of these and other partners was crucial in bringing the world's top virology experts together under one roof to further scientific discourse and knowledge on this critical subject. Scientists presented cutting-edge studies on viral genomics, antimicrobial resistance, emerging viral diseases, vaccine development, and more. Policy experts led meaningful conversations around preparedness for future viral outbreaks, global health security, and effective pandemic response measures.
The knowledge gained at this conference will empower the field to better understand, prevent, detect, and respond to viral threats worldwide. Collaborations initiated here will lead to critical advancements in treatments, vaccines, and public health strategies. By disseminating new research and spurring further progress, this conference succeeded in pushing the boundaries of science and public health in impactful ways. CONFERENCE VENUE: Athens, Greece
About Athens, Greece
Athens, Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. This is because the political and economic center of the country is located here.
June Athens enjoys a sunny location in the south-east of Greece. It’s found in the Attica region, close to the Saronic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. The water’s very warm in June and this helps to keep temperatures inland high too. The city’s landscape creates an insulating effect and Athens is usually warmer than surrounding towns. The only drawback to visiting Athens in June is that the hot, sunny weather brings crowds. Not only that, both European tourists and folks from overseas are on summer breaks so that adds to the numbers. If you plan to hit any of the major tourist sites such as the Acropolis or the Parthenon, expect to see tour buses lined up outside and the Hop-On, Hop-Off shuttle overflowing with people.
Athens-Epidavros Festival (June to October): June is typically the month when the Athens-Epidavros Festival kicks off in the city (although sometimes it starts as early as May). The festival, which lasts until October, occurs in the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, an amphitheater on the southwest hill of the Acropolis; the Epidaurus Ancient Theatre two hours south; and other select locations. It involves music, theater, dance, and other performing arts.
